    Position Title Communications and Media Intern (Summer 2013)

    Classification Internship (15-25 hours per week)
    Reports To Communications Manager
    Position Summary Currently accepting new applicants for the summer 2013 internship program in the Center's communications department. The intern will work approximately 15-25 hours a week and assist with communications, media and marketing initiatives for the Center's events, activities and programs. The intern will interact regularly with members of the LGBT community and will collaborate with Center staff across departments. Applicants must be junior or senior year undergraduate students, graduate students or recent college graduates. The core areas of focus will include:

    • Updating media contacts
    • Creating and disseminating press releases
    • Monitoring print and online media clips
    • Contributing content to e-newsletters and the Center website
    • Social media campaign creation and implementation
    • Managing Center media partnerships
    • Assistance with overall branding efforts

    Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent written, verbal and communication skills; be proficient with MS Office suite products; be detail-oriented; and thrive at working independently and collaboratively (a good sense of humor is also appreciated). Knowledge and familiarity of LGBT communities and issues is strongly preferred; a high sense of responsibility and commitment to the mission of the Center required.
