NEW YORK, NY, September 1, 2026—The Center stands with the LGBTQ+ Community of Tucson, Arizona.

We are devastated by the loss of Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and Cameron Davis Capara, who were shot outside of the gay bar Venture-N in Tucson, Arizona. Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones and community members. The NYC LGBT Community Center stands with our LGBTQ+ siblings in Tucson.

This is yet another violent attack in a series of hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. We are witnessing a historic rise in transphobia and homophobia. It’s been 56 years since the Stonewall riots and 10 years since the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub. LGBTQ+ spaces are sacred to our community for connection, healing, and organizing.

As we mourn the loss of Vincent and Cameron, we must also find the courage to keep fighting. We cannot let threats prevent us from being with our community. LGBTQ+ people deserve peace, safety, and joy without fear of violence. We must continue to defend LGBTQ+ spaces fiercely so they may continue to exist, both for us and for future generations.
