NEW YORK, NY, January 1, 2026—Mayor Mamdani has expressed a strong commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ New Yorkers. As a member of the transition health committee, our CEO, Dr. Carla Smith, will continue to work closely with Mayor Mamdani and his transition team to help ensure ongoing support for our community. 

Democracy is not a spectator sport, particularly for LGBTQ+ communities. We’ve made significant progress in recent decades, and we must work to safeguard those achievements.

The Center looks forward to helping Mayor Mamdani build upon New York City’s legacy as the center of LGBTQ+ life and prosperity in the US.
