The Keith Haring Community Wing

The Keith Haring Community Wing is named in recognition of Keith Haring to celebrate The Center’s connection to Haring and as a reminder of the collective power of our community.

The Origin of the Keith Haring Community Wing

In the fall of 2020, The Keith Haring Foundation auctioned a portion of Haring’s personal collection of art, featuring works by renowned community-based creatives and street artists, to raise funds benefiting The Center. This substantial gift of $3.7 million is the largest single gift The Center has ever received and helps position it for future generations.

It was especially important to The Center and The Keith Haring Foundation that the name include “community,” as the money raised was from a community of artists and activists of which Keith was a part. Additionally, many Center services are provided in the Keith Haring Community Wing, including our youth drop-in space, substance use treatment program, mental health treatment, and counseling, case management, patient navigation, and HIV testing. Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination, and encourages people to go further.
