Lesbian Bar Project Film Screening and Panel

As part of The Center's Lesbian Visibility Week programming, join us for a screening of Episode 3 of The Lesbian Bar Project and panel discussion following the screening with prominent figures within NYC lesbian nightlife.

Please join us after the screening for a discussion with co-directors and founders of The Lesbian Bar Project, Erica Rose and Elina Street, as well as co-founders of Dyke Beer Loretta Andro Chung and Sarah Hallonquist, and co-owners of The Bush, Jenille Nikke Alleyne and Justine Laviolette.

Following the panel discussion, there will be an after party at Henrietta Hudson (438 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014) from 8:30-10:30 p.m. with a complimentary open bar (donated by Henrietta Hudson) for event attendees. Party will be located in the back bar.

About The Lesbian Bar Project:

Erica Rose and Elina Street are the award-winning creators and directors of the documentary series The Lesbian Bar Project, which documents queer women/FLINTA bars around the world. Season One, which was a co-production of Roku TV and Jägermeister, won an Emmy, a GLAAD Media Award, two Webbys, an ANA Award, and was selected to screen at Tribeca X and Brand Storytelling: a sanctioned event at the Sundance Film Festival. Season Two of The Lesbian Bar Project, shot entirely in Germany, will premiere April 11 2024 on RTL+. In 2020 and 2021, during the height of COVID-19, The Lesbian Bar Project raised nearly $300,000 for the lesbian bars across the United States. For more information:

About Dyke Beer:

Loretta Andro Chung and Sarah Hallonquist are the brains and grassroots activists behind Dyke Beer, both a product that honors and celebrates LGBTQIA+ spaces and history and are event producers that host events throughout New York City, like Queeraoke, Dyke Cookouts and Self Defense classes.

About The Bush:

Jenille Nikke Alleyne(co-owner) is a black queer immigrant woman. Her 9-5 is working on the Growth Marketing team at for Saks. Jenille brings extensive experience in inventory management, buying and large scale financial planning. She strives to inspire those around her to bring their best to any task at hand. When Jenille is not busy at work managing her team she can be found in Jersey City with her partner. Jenille’s favorite drink is a Dirty Gin Martini.

Justine Laviolette (co-owner) is a queer person living in Brooklyn. They grew up in the kitchens of their family’s restaurants, working in and managing restaurants through their early 20’s. Justine went on to lead two production companies to success in the competitive field of commercial advertising, and is happy to now be returning to the hospitality industry with The Bush. Justine’s favorite drink is a Mezcal Negroni.
