‘Further From Heaven’ book launch

New York City book launch at the Bureau for Candystore’s nonfiction debut, Further From Heaven (Smutburger Editions)—“the smart and smutty journey of a budding genderfuck.”

Further From Heaven is a confrontational, autobiographical work tracing a decade’s worth of profile photos, anecdotes, chat histories, screenshots, dick pics, and poems shared by way of gay hookup apps. In juxtaposing the hyperreal invention of self in the digital world with the formation of the author’s fluctuating gender and erotic identifications, Further From Heaven incites a queer ethos toward sex, love, play, and desire on and offline.

Reception begins at 7:00 PM with DJ Gay Panic. At 7:30 PM, Candystore will be conversation with writer and artist Savannah Knoop with book signing to follow. Registration is not required. Seating is first come, first served. Suggested donation $10 to benefit the Bureau’s work. All are welcome to attend, with or without donation. We will pass a bag for donations at the start of the event, but we can also take credit card donations at the register or on Venmo@bgsqd.
