Center Youth: Lights Out (Sex Education Workshops)

Join us for a queer sex education workshop! This weekly session will touch on different topics each week. We'll discuss everything sex-related, including consent, the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, STI's and safer sex, as well as pleasure.
WORKSHOP TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED:
February 1- Consent:
- Identify verbal and nonverbal cues for rejection, ambivalence, and enthusiastic consent.
- Unpack the concept of body autonomy and understand the idea of consent as an extension of people’s bodies, no matter the age.
February 8- Healthy relationships:
- Identify and describe the warning signs of both unhealthy and abusive relationships.
- Develop an understanding of the components of power and control.
February 15- STI’s & Safer Sex:
- Explore the fundamentals of safer sex
- Offer practical strategies to reduce the risk of the most serious sexually transmitted infections while understanding that there isn’t complete risk elimination for every possible condition.
- Provide insight on how to make whatever precautions you choose feel as pleasurable as possible.
February 22- Pleasure:
- An exploration of pleasure as a liberating practice, extending beyond sex and possibly not involving sex at all.
