Library

Founded in 1991 to encourage and facilitate the reading and research of LGBTQ+ literature, the Pat Parker/Vito Russo Center Library contains hundreds of books and videos for reading, reference, education, and enrichment. The following recommended titles are available for lending from our collection. The Library is named in honor of individuals who championed LGBTQ+ causes in their professional and personal lives. The late lesbian poet Pat Parker, author of “Movement in Black,” was hailed by many as a “lead voice and caller” in the lesbian-feminist cultural scene. The late gay film historian Vito Russo was the author of “The Celluloid Closet: Homosexuality in the Movies,” released as a motion picture in 1996.

The Library is currently closed and in need of volunteer support in order to reopen to the public. If you’re interested in supporting the Library by volunteering, please email us at ppvrlib@gaycenter.org.
