When a community comes together, we create spaces that foster healing, joy, authenticity, and expression. This Juneteenth, The Center invites you to a culturally transformative conversation on The Case for Space: A Discussion of Black Queer and Trans Nightlife in NYC. Join us on Sunday, June 18, at 12 p.m. for a panel discussion featuring leading community voices on the need to protect unapologetically Black spaces, why supporting them matters, and how we work together to reclaim our right to space. We’ll start the program gathering with sounds curated by Hot Sauce, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Major Nesby and Adomako Aman of The Center’s RiseOut Advocacy Council.
Presented in collaboration with nightlife collective Dick Appointment, The Center continues its month-long Pride celebration with a block party for the community, by the community that celebrates the intersection of Juneteenth and Pride month and centers Black LGBTQ+ artists, storytellers, creatives, and vendors.
Dick Appointment gives back to the community alongside other Black nightlife collectives through a free afternoon of sounds and good eats—curating fully immersive experiences featuring Black vendors and touch points inspired by Black queer culture.
Are you a Black LGBTQ+ small business owner looking to sell your products to the wider LGBTQ+ and allied community? Sell for FREE (no vendor fee) at our Juneteenth Block Party!
