Art Centered
Since its founding in 1983, The Center has been more than a place of services—it is a living cultural space shaped by artists and activism. The Center’s halls are where art meets activism and is a space for expression, visibility, and community. From ACT UP's first convening and Keith Haring’s Once Upon a Time mural, to the art of Martin Wong, it is where generations of creatives have gathered in response to crisis, injustice, and possibility.
Today, that legacy carries new urgency. For LGBTQ+ young people—especially those who feel unsafe, unseen, or excluded—art can be a lifeline. To see oneself reflected in art and creative expression is to feel recognized, and that recognition can be transformative.
Art Centered marks the beginning of a renewed call to action. Taking place on Wednesday, October 7, at The Center, this intimate, invite-only evening will bring together artists, collectors, donors, and cultural leaders for a cocktail reception and dinner, designed not only to raise critical funds, but to foster connection, generosity, and shared purpose.
