NEW YORK, NY, July 28, 2026—We are devastated by the violent attack against the LGBTQ+ community and allies celebrating Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Berlin. Christopher Street Day commemorates the Stonewall Riots, which took place in New York City. Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and all impacted community members.
The NYC LGBT Community Center stands with our LGBTQ+ siblings in Berlin. Our community’s fight is global. We are witnessing a historic rise in transphobia and homophobia. LGBTQ+ people deserve to celebrate, protest, and exist without fearing violence. As we mourn, we must also find the courage to keep fighting. In times of fear, we are reminded of our interconnectedness with LGBTQ+ communities around the world.
Berlin, we love you. Wir lieben euch.
