Contact Your Representatives

New York State elected officials are in office to represent the interests of all New Yorkers—including the LGBTQ+ community. It's up to all of us to hold them accountable to this duty! Calling their offices directly is an especially effective way to do this.

Here are three easy steps to take action now.

Your Steps to Success

Step 1: Find your Reps

Start by finding your State Senator and Assembly Members’ contact information here or by calling the State Senate Switchboard (518.455.2800) and the State Assembly Switchboard (518.455.4218). You can also call the Governor’s office (518.474.8390).

Step 2: Call and leave a message

Whether you speak with a staff member or leave a voicemail, your message will get through! Here is a sample script:

“Hi, my name is ______, and I’m a constituent who lives in your district. I’m calling today to ask you to support LGBTQ-affirming legislation, including The Gender Identity Respect, Dignity, and Safety Act; TGNCNB Anti-Discrimination Requirements in Schools; The LGBT Long-Term Care Facility Bill of Rights; and Repeal Pharmacy Carve-out. Can I count on you to support them?”

Step 3: Report back

Let us know how your call went and who you spoke with (if applicable) by filling out the below form.
