Dear community,

With the news that Donald Trump will be returning to the White House for a second term, we know many of you are feeling outraged, anxious, and deeply concerned. For so many of us at The Center, this result is a blow to the progress our community has fought so hard to achieve and the freedoms we must protect.

As LGBTQ+ people, our history is one of deep community struggle, and of even greater resilience and courage. From the fight for civil rights to responding to the HIV/AIDS crisis, we have always come together, persevering and finding hope—even in the most challenging moments.

There will likely be more challenges ahead, but our strength endures. It’s evident right here in New York, as voters overwhelmingly approved the passage of Proposition 1, a ballot measure to ensure the full protection of LGBTQ+ rights and of a person’s right to choose an abortion in our state constitution.

And while the political landscape may shift, our commitment to LGBTQ+ New Yorkers remains unshakeable. Our mission to empower LGBTQ+ people to lead healthy and successful lives is more critical now than ever before, and we are prepared to meet this moment head-on.

If you’re looking for a space to connect we welcome you to visit The Center. Whether it’s joining a group, accessing our programs and services, or simply being in an affirming safe space: we are here for you.

I’d also like to invite you to our upcoming event, Voices Beyond the Vote: A Post-Election Town Hall, where we’ll gather as a community to share perspectives and foster understanding at this crucial time.

Please consider making a donation to support our work, a contribution of any size makes a difference to help us remain a source of strength, a voice for equality, and a home for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.

Stay connected, stay engaged, and know that we will never stop defending your right to live openly, authentically, and freely.

In solidarity,

Carla
