In celebration of National Coming Out Day, Melissa Ruiz, Director of Center Advancement at The NYC LGBT Community Center, joined in conversation with @NYCSchoolsPride' Kalima Mckenzie-Simms, Manager of LGBTQ+ Programs, and Jude Schoenfeld, Coordinator of LGBTQ+ Programs.
This was a thoughtful conversation that talked about the impact caring adults play in supporting LGBTQ+ youth, advice for youth who are looking to come out to family (if that’s what they want), and challenges that LGBTQ+ youth face as they deal with things like anti-lgbtq legislation and book bans.
