Jen Headshot

In 1986, I was a lonely 10-year-old brown butch kid in Little Rock, unsure why I should even exist. Growing up as the first-generation daughter of Catholic Filipino immigrants in Arkansas was tough. Fortunately, my journey brought me to New York and to The Center, where I felt, for the first time, the collective energy of a space meant to welcome me without judgment. Empowered by that acceptance, that kid from Arkansas is now a super gay, proud, silver-haired dyke on a bike, grateful to be part of such a resilient community. To the beautiful people of The Center, the basecamp for my chosen family, thank you for everything you do for us. You save lives.
