Founded in 1991 to encourage and facilitate the reading and research of LGBTQ+ literature, the Pat Parker/Vito Russo Center Library contains hundreds of books and videos for reading, reference, education, and enrichment. The Library is named in honor of individuals who championed LGBTQ+ causes in their professional and personal lives. The late lesbian poet Pat Parker, author of “Movement in Black,” was hailed by many as a “lead voice and caller” in the lesbian-feminist cultural scene. The late gay film historian Vito Russo was the author of “The Celluloid Closet: Homosexuality in the Movies,” released as a motion picture in 1996.
The Library is open Sundays Noon – 4:00 p.m.
We are currently not accepting book donations. Please contact ppvrlib@gaycenter.org with any questions or to inquire about volunteering.
Special thanks to the Pat Parker/Vito Russo Center Library steering committee: Micah Ruth Farman, Mev Luna, James McNutt, Liza Minno, and Victor Collymore-Bey
