THE STONEWALL PROJECT

History was made when President Barack Obama designated Stonewall National Monument, at the location where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people led the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. This new National Monument represents a significant step by President Obama and the National Park Service to recognize and commemorate LGBT history. The Center is also proud to announce that we are the fiscal sponsor of The Stonewall Project, a multi-faceted initiative that seeks to anchor LGBT history with other great struggles for equality in the 20th century. The Center will work with The Stonewall Project to help enhance the experience of visiting Stonewall National Monument for years to come.
