Theme: Lives Remembered, Futures Reclaimed
Each year on Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), our community gathers to honor the lives we have lost to hate and apathy. This year, we will come together not only to remember those lost to anti-trans violence, but also—for the first time—to lift up the names of our siblings who died by suicide. We recognize the slow violence that our transgender siblings must battle everyday in a society hostile to gender expansiveness and nonconformity.
We recognize that suicide is not separate from the violence transgender people face—it is often the tragic result of the slow violence that our transgender siblings must battle everyday in a society hostile to gender expansiveness and nonconformity.
Lives Remembered, Futures Reclaimed will feature words and performances from transgender artists and public figures, as well as resource-sharing from The Center. We invite you to share a meal and space with us as we dedicate this night to honor our community past, present, and future.
