Welcome fabulous foodies and authors Daniel Isengart and Justin Spring for a special conversation about their lives and work at The Center!
Home cooking has always been an essential part of living a creative life for Isengart. In “The Art of Gay Cooking: A Culinary Memoir,” Isengart presents a literary portrait that moves from the author’s grandmother’s kitchen in Germany to his childhood in Paris. Isengart is a cabaret entertainer, a freelancing private chef, a food consultant and recently appointed food columnist for Slate Magazine’s new advice column, The Pickle.
Justin Spring is the author of “The Gourmands’ Way: Six Americans in Paris and the Birth of a New Gastronomy,” a Publishers Weekly Best Nonfiction Book of 2017 and the winner of the Gourmand World Cookbook Award in Culinary History. Spring is also the author of the award-winning biography “Secret Historian: The Life and Times of Samuel Steward, Professor, Tattoo Artist, and Sexual Renegade.”
