Scope and Content

The majority of this collection consists of the monthly meeting minutes from 1986-1988 of the Crisis Intervention Workers Team 6 of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis. The Crisis Intervention Workers held monthly meetings where they discussed their patients’ cases in depth. In the minutes, volunteers are identified by full names, but patients are only identified by their first names to maintain their confidentiality. Volunteers also circulated other AIDS healthcare news and information specific to GMHC during the meetings. There is a single fundraising letter from the GMHC from December 1984. The collection also includes an assortment of newsletters written by Walter Wallace, former owner of a New York City bar called the Mineshaft who was active in the Gay Male S&M Activists (GMSMA) of New York City. The newsletters are written for the Mineshaft, Hellfire Club and GMSMA
