Scope and Content

This collection contains 13 recorded interviews Rabner conducted with people who frequented NYC bath houses. Also included are paper questionnaires that Rabner initially sent out to participants that asks participants which bath houses they went to, their age, their sexual activity, drug use and their health status.

History or Bio

Elliot Rabner was a teacher in New York City. In 1980 he organized the Long Island Teachers Association, a local group of gay teachers with ties to the NYC Gay Teachers Association. This group held its last meeting in 1983 due to declining membership. He was a long-time SAGE member, and a founding member of SAGE’s Communities Advisory Council. Rabner retired in 1985 to pursue his interest in homoerotic art. He died in July, 2011.
